Metric - Artificial Nocturne (Love Thy Brother Remix)

Just a total face melt type situation. Loved it from the get go. Metric killing it and Love Thy Brother just leaving it all out there. Let summer reign!

FEVR PITCH - Before The World Ends

So FEVR PITCH is a project from Corey Baker, the man behind Kill Paris; who incidentally is absolutely blowing up my page right now. But, you've got to give it to the man. He puts out bangers. So what do we think of this one gang?

Kill Paris - Keep Your Secrets In Midnight City

Just when you thought it was safe to call it a day with the remixes to M83's Midnight City, it's not. But it's tough to even call this a remix. Really, it's more of a sample. And a tasteful one at that. Kill Paris first came onto my radar a couple weeks ago with his uber catchy "Shades of Funk". This keeps things going. Definitely give him a listen. Worthy of a couple minutes. Banger.

Krewella - Killin' It

The homie Max has been beating down my door to get me to listen to Krewella. I finally got a chance to sit down and take a listen. And while I've gone on record saying I cannot even begin to understand what is going on with the whole dubstep movement, this is pretty damn good. Dubstep or not. I mean, well, it's definitely dubstep. But I think it's pretty damn good, and can definitely see why this would be fun to get all droopy to at a show. Anyways, check it out. I still don't like dubstep. This is the exception to the rule.

There's also a little drum n bass breakdown in the middle of the track. Which got me to thinking. Is dubstep the modern day drum n bass? Because drum n bass was definitely a thing for like 3 years from like '99 - '02. So, maybe the torch has been passed.

Avicii - Levels (Skrillex Remix)

I mean, this is a bit gratuitous. At this point I'm sure you've heard something about this mix. It was already the most hyped and played out track of the year, so why wouldn't Skrillex - Mr. Awful Haircut & Glasses himself remix it? And shut down the internet while he's at it. It's like Armageddon if you love dubstep and house, lock the doors and turn out the lights. It's all over. On a side note, it's pretty decent.

Pretty Lights - It's Tricky

Say what you want about the man, but Derek Vincent Smith aka Pretty Lights knows how to carve up a track and serve it up fresh. He is in my mind, one of the more creative producers / remixers of the moment. He doesn't just take a track and add new drums and change the synths. He completely chops it up into bits and pieces and reassembles it into something almost completely unrecognizable. In this case, it's Run DMC's It's Tricky. The result is a slow and trippy rendition that is a totally new take on the song in and of itself. It's quite good.

Joker - The Vision (Let Me Breathe)

Liam McClean, the man behind Joker gets it. His brand of dubstep is acceptable. In fact it's not just acceptable, it's good. This is just filthy. The proper amount of dark and dreary and bass and synths wrapped around some delicious vocals. Perfect for you to enjoy on this gloomy Monday.

LIPS - Everything To Me (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)

This is the kind of dubstep I can tolerate. It's not totally aggressive. It's a little more subtle and not so in your face. Dubstep seems to be turning into a pissing contest of who can create the most ridiculous, over the top, filthy bass. Even if it doesn't actually have any continuity or redeeming audio quality. Which is why I think most dubstep sucks. Because, well it does. But there is some tasteful dubstep out there as well. If you can weed through all the Frat Step you can find gems like this. Where it makes sense, and sounds.... good! Crazy to think about, I know. But how do you even dance to dubstep? I don't know. What I do know is this is good. And you should listen.

Skrillex – Bangarang (PockX Extended Edit)

Wow. I've been reluctant to give daps and hugs to Skrillex. Maybe it's his haircut. Maybe it's the fact that he was in a screamo band before "reinventing" himself as Skrillex. I guess in a way, I have resisted the whole dubstep movement. Most dubstep falls on deaf ears with me. But this track caught my attention. I'm still not ready to admit that I like dubstep, and think this is an anomaly. But it's certainly worthy of a post. This particular track should most likey melt your face off. So, listen with a friend. For safety's sake.

NatNaiel - Here I Am

NatNaiel is from Jersey. Don't hold it against him. He's got alot going on here. It seems a bit busy at times, but it works in the end. He's got a smorgasbord of genres going on here from hip hop to dubstep he spans it all. But it's still pretty good.

SBTRKT - Wildfire

Slow it down with some dubstep here. SBTRKT is an anonymous producer based in London. He's gone the Daft Punk route with the whole mask deal. Which, I have to admit is just a little weird. While, he claims it is to remain anonymous and let the music speak for itself, the whole thing seems a bit kitschy at this point. Daft Punk did it, and they did it best. These African Tribal Masks don't do it for me. But at least the guy's going for it. Anyways, i like this track. It's slow to start up, but it's catchy. The vocals are sexy too. Check it out. Masks or not.
