Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks (The Knocks Remix)

So it should come as no surprise that we have the Knocks' work sneaking up on TMD once again. This time, it's in the form of a remix to Of Monster And Men's "Little Talks". It's quite an interesting remix, just based on the two very different musical stylings of each group. Of Monsters And Men is a six piece indie group from Iceland; while the Knocks is two dudes just slaying it from Brooklyn. Simple as that. Well, here, it works out to sound like pure sonic bliss.
 

Bloc Party - Octopus (RAC Remix)

Well well well, if it isn't the boys from RAC at it again. Just killin it like they always do. They just dropped this remix today and it is certainly worthy of a dozen listens. I love the synths and the re-work just like everything else they do.

RAC - Hollywood Feat. Penguin Prison (Felix Da Housecat Remix)

So we already put up the original version of this track. But Felix Da Housecat puts his own little spin on this and it is certainly worth a listen. Seriously check it out. You won't be able to get it out of your head. Side note, I used to love Mountain Dew as a kid. Now they've got a label. Now I've seen it all.

Santigold - The Keepers (The Knocks Remix)

This came out last week and these guys are just killing it right now. We saw The Knocks last week at Brooklyn Bowl with our hometown favorite Ghost Beach. It was a show for the ages. If you don't know about the Knocks yet, now you do.

Metric - Artificial Nocturne (Love Thy Brother Remix)

Just a total face melt type situation. Loved it from the get go. Metric killing it and Love Thy Brother just leaving it all out there. Let summer reign!

RAC - If You Forget Me (Gigamesh Remix)

Sometimes things slip by. Sometimes we have to look back and make sure we didn't miss anything. And in this case we see that we clearly missed this one. Somehow this came out two years ago, and I'm just digging into it now. It makes sense, it's RAC and Gigamesh, both of whom crank out bangers. So yeah, this makes sense. Anyways, give this a listen. It's awesome.

The Weeknd vs Daft Punk - Morning Love (Club Clique Mashup)

As soon as this hit my inbox I was excited. For many reasons. Mainly three: 1 - Every rework from these guys is always a total banger. 2: Daft Punk, not much more to say there. 3: The Weeknd is definitely worth a listen on his own right with his beautiful gangster rap as I like to call it. All three combine to make this one the most worthy thing you listen to today.

The Penelopes - Summer Life (Gigamesh Remix)

Seems like an appropriate track for today. It's dope.

Ghost Beach - Miracle (Viceroy Remix)

Our boys over at Ghost Beach get the remix treatment from Viceroy today. These guys are just straight killing it right now. Everything they touch has been gold thus far. They are in the studio finishing up their debut album and I can't wait to hear what they have in store for us. Keep an eye on these guys.

Kill Paris - Keep Your Secrets In Midnight City

Just when you thought it was safe to call it a day with the remixes to M83's Midnight City, it's not. But it's tough to even call this a remix. Really, it's more of a sample. And a tasteful one at that. Kill Paris first came onto my radar a couple weeks ago with his uber catchy "Shades of Funk". This keeps things going. Definitely give him a listen. Worthy of a couple minutes. Banger.

Gotye - Someone That I Used To Know (Miami Nights 1984 Remix)

You spin me right round baby right round, like a record baby, right round round round. That comes to mind. It's a great, driving beat. Unstoppable. This is a top shelf remix right here. I like the slow build up. Well worth the wait. We'll have this on loop for a bit. Enjoy.

Beanie Sigel - Glock Nines (Ratatat Remix)

This is definitely a throwback. But it's a damn good song for your Friday. Rediscovered this while waxing over some beers last night and thought it was worthy of a post. Even if it's not new, it's damn good. And worth a listen to take you into the weekend. I'd like to run some groomers in Aspen listening to this.

Miike Snow - Devil's Work (Alex Metric Remix)

Miike Snow is back. After an extensive and exhausting world tour. Believe me, it was exhausting. I saw them kick off the tour, and caught their final show of the tour. It was like seeing two different bands. They were amazing in the first show, and awful in the second. They desperately needed to get some new material. Now they have some. M83 - Midnight City (Remix Par Who Killed JR)

In keeping with the Captain Obvious theme we've had going this weekend, I present you with yet another rendition of M83's otherwise perfect overture: Midnight City. I actually enjoy this one quite a bit. And while I think the song should just stand on its own, it's inevitable that this thing will be chopped and screwed a dozen ways from Sunday for the next year. This is what I deem to be the best thus far. I particularly like the piano in the intro and breakdown. He adds another layer of synth which is subtle yet tasteful. The rest of the track pretty much let's Mr. Gonzalez's original version shine through. That's how it should be.

Avicii - Levels (Skrillex Remix)

 I mean, this is a bit gratuitous. At this point I'm sure you've heard something about this mix. It was already the most hyped and played out track of the year, so why wouldn't Skrillex - Mr. Awful Haircut & Glasses himself remix it? And shut down the internet while he's at it. It's like Armageddon if you love dubstep and house, lock the doors and turn out the lights. It's all over. On a side note, it's pretty decent.

Chromeo - Hot Mess (Duck Sauce Remix)

It's not new. But that doesn't matter. I was digging around the archives last night and stumbled upon this little gem. Seems like a nice way to send it into the weekend. Chromeo and Duck Sauce is a fitting pair. This remix is magical. Enjoy it. A good song to put your pants on to, or take someone elses off. Pretty Lights - It's Tricky

Say what you want about the man, but Derek Vincent Smith aka Pretty Lights knows how to carve up a track and serve it up fresh. He is in my mind, one of the more creative producers / remixers of the moment. He doesn't just take a track and add new drums and change the synths. He completely chops it up into bits and pieces and reassembles it into something almost completely unrecognizable. In this case, it's Run DMC's It's Tricky. The result is a slow and trippy rendition that is a totally new take on the song in and of itself. It's quite good.

Lana Del Ray - Blue Jeans (Club Clique Remix)

In what was an already amazing song, Club Clique has managed to make it even better. Lana Del Rey is the "it" girl of the moment and it's not undeserved. She has an amazing voice and a very unique delivery. She also happens to be drop dead gorgeous which certianly doesn't hurt her appeal. But her voice and talent stand on their own. I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing more from her.

1979 - (ft. Liz Anjos)

 I swear to god. Every time these guys put something out it's better than the last thing they did. This continues that trend. Here, they take Smashing Pumpkins' "1979" and strip it down and build it back up from scratch. The result, is wonderful. Light and fluffy, while paying homage to the original from whence it came. Spot on. Again.

Alex Winston - Velvet Elvis (RAC Remix)

R.A.C. is at once again. Hardest working producer in the game right now. And almost everything they put out is just solid. No two ways about it. Here they take Alex Winston's bubbly little jam for a spin and keep it in line with minor tweaks in tinkering. It works. And one of the things I like about R.A.C. is their ability to let the original trakc shine through without overwhelming and ripping it apart. Just adding what needs to be added in a tasteful way. Letting the artist shine through. Case in point:
