Poolside is a band that sounds exactly as their name implies. Chilled out, mellow tunes that you would want to listen to when you're, well, poolside. Sorry I had to do it. Anyways, a solid effort here. Just sit back and relax and enjoy the sounds.

I got an email from him last night with his first 5 tracks that he wanted to review and this, while not the newest track, stuck with me. It's about a year old, but it's fantastic. I'm excited to see what else Joe is into and we should all look forward to hearing from him. This one reminds him of summer. I concur.

Goldroom - Morgan's Bay

Hell. Yes. God do we need this right now. Automatic smiles. If Yacht Rock were to come back today with a new updated and rebooted sound, this is it. Pure unadulterated sexy. Goldroom is a side project from Binary Entertainment head honcho Josh Legg. You've heard some other Binary tunes on here. Namely Flashlights and NightWaves. But this is spot on. Just nails it. The intro sounds a bit like Aeroplane's "We Can't Fly". Then that guitar comes in and it's just time to throw off the bow lines and sail away. Float on.

Washed Out - New Theory - (RAC Remix)

This track actually came out last year and was one of my favorite songs from last year. But I hadn't heard this re-work until today. It's even more mellowed out and dreamy than the original. RAC continues to bring it.

The song sounds just as you think it would. Dreamy and... floaty?? It's kind of been a running theme over here at TMD for the past few weeks. Not sure why. I don't even know how to describe it. But it suits my mood. Maybe it'll suit yours?

MNDR - I Go Away

We're gonna slow it down here for a moment here at the most definitely. Enter MNDR. She's been up here before. In a much different sounding way. Something about this track gets me. It's kind of haunting in a beautiful way. Most definitely not one that you play while the party is kicking. Maybe when you're trying to put yourself to sleep. But hey, we can't party all the time right? Right guys?

Local Natives - Wide Eyes (Teen Daze Remix)

A friend of mine introduced me to these guys last winter. And I feel like I've watched them absolutely explode onto the scene. I saw them at the Delancey back at the CMJ Festival and they had audio problems in what is already a terrible venue for shows. It was pretty tough for them to power through the adversity, but I got the essence of them. Then I saw them at Bowery Ballroom and was blown away by how good they were. Then, they started popping up on all the blogs when they signed to a major label. Now they are blowing up and its nice to see.

Anyways, they are an absolutely solid band. And this little remix captures them in their glory and adds some synths. So you know I'm going to love it. Just a marvelously stunning song that captures my state of mind these days. I can't really say enough good things about this track. It's just delicious in all the ways music is supposed to be. I feel like I'm floating. Anyways, check it out. And check out their whole album when you have a chance. Good rock and roll.

This is a top down, summer afternoon cruiser. Preferably on a coastline. Actually it needs to be listened to on a coastline. So if you are landlocked, do yourself a favor and don't even listen to this. Just not fair to you. Not fair to anybody. But if you're near the water. Listen to this song as close to the water as you can be. Enjoy. Sexy.
