Woops! Falling Off the Palisades - Squaw Valley

Palisades from Chris Elardo on Vimeo.

That was a close one. Thanks Mr. Richter.

From Unofficial Networks: "If you were at Squaw Valley yesterday you probably heard about the baboon of a snowboarder who tumbled his way down the Palisades. As the story goes…. “some knuckledragger tried to hit Draft Rock in the Chimney, Dry-docked hard and wen’t over the handle bars. Bouncing his way down the Palisades he plops down like a bag of ice skates a foot or two from the lowest set of rocks. Then came down and claimed the shit out of it!Dude, you should have seen it.” Well now we can. Today, some footage emerged that was captured by Chris Elardo.

Way to go for it.
Glad to hear that you are ok Broski. that was a hell of a fall."

Holy Ghost - Do It Again

Every now and then, people say things. And every now and then, we listen. Sometimes, we don't have a choice. Sometimes, people you know and trust, tell you things so bluntly, that you have no other option. You may not even be capable of an independent thought. That's what happened with this. TC (Tony Coffeecakes)sent me an email that was one sentence. He said this needed to be up on TMD. And within, the first 4 chords, I agreed. So here it is. Thanks TC.

Anyways, this track is straight butter. So smooth. You can't help but move your head with it. I was hooked after the first 4 notes. The synths are on point, and it just works all around. It's got that DFA sound that we've grown to love. And with LCD Soundsystem playing their last ever shows this week. It seems fitting to debut their lable's most promising band. Spring is in the air, and I think this bottles that feeling perfectly. "Windows down, screamin out give it to me now"

The Strokes & Lupe Fiasco - Machu Picchu Goes On

It works. Lupe and the Strokes. Throw in some political overtones and you've got something here. The Strokes' Machu Picchu stands on its own but it gets a lovely rework here from Dalls based LehtMoJoe for a nice twist. Check it out.

Yelle - Que Veux Tu (Madeon Remix) & Bonus!

Our favorite French girl is back with a new album. It's fantastic. I still don't care that I don't understand a word she is saying. Her voice is beautiful and I just assume she's singing about deep, introspective topics. But who knows really? Again, I don't care. Sometimes ignorance truly is bliss. Look out especially for Que Veux Tu (Madeon Remix) and Safari Disco Club.

Atmosphere - She's Enough

It would appear we've been on a hip hop kick lately. And that's cool. I'm cool with it. Hope you guys are too. Anyways, Atmosphere has been around for a long time. Way back in the day I used to jam to Free or Dead off his 2001 album Lucy Ford. A song about his car and how it was his own personal universe. He's a Class A lyricist. Top shelf really. He's got velvet flow and backs it with beats to make your head nod. Anyways, check this one out. It does not disappoint. It's nice to see some staying power.

Kid Cudi - Cudi Zone (KillerGraham Remix)

Nothing like some Cudi mixed with some heavy dubstep. This will be stuck in your head for days. Most dope. Get in the Cudi Zone. It's easy!

Hoodie Allen - NY Is Killing Me

New Hoodie! This was supposed to go up a few days ago, but it didn't for some reason. Whatever. Now it's up. I like it, don't love it, which is ironic since the lyrics are "I create, you criticize"...

Lupe Fiasco - Stereo Sun

New Lupe. It seems everything he touches is gold. He's got the gift of the flow and the production sense to bring it all home. Mixing synths and dope beats getting a banger for a finished product. He's going places.

Angus and Julia Stone - Big Jet Plane

Soothing. Clouds. Ocean breeze. Life is okay. Hi. What did you just say? Sorry, just totally spaced out. Shut your brain off and enjoy. Angus and Julia come to us from Sydney, Australia. And guess what? They're brother and sister! Cool! Anyway, he's got a silky/scratchy smooth voice that reminds me of Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend. Not saying who's better, just saying they remind me of one another. This isn't a pissing contest. Anyways, check out this rework from Hatian producer Michael Brun. It's delicious.

Matt Meola - Innersection Final

Holy sh*t. Coconuts. This is just absurd. Curt Morgan and the boys over at Brain Farm (That's It, That's All, The Art of Flight) put this little nugget together and it is the future. Nobody comes close in production to Brain Farm. Not even close. I'm slightly speechless. Just watch. Bonkers. Kudos to Curt, and Matt for that matter. Together they have made fire.

Pretty Lights - Empire State of Mind - Remix

So this is too easy. It's too simple. Tony CoffeeCakes put it best, it's almost embarrassing to post it because it seems too easy. Why didn't I know about this sooner? Why didn't anyone do this sooner? Is this a layup? Is it just too simple to even be worthy of a post? Well, it's worthy. And for whatever reason it's only fitting that it gets dropped on the anniversary of that fateful night when Biggie was taken down in Los Angeles, 14 years to the day. Not incredibly new, but not incredibly old. Just when you thought you were done hearing the New York anthem which has seemingly been on loop in every Impala and Honda that rolls by you on the street, it gets a rework from our boy Pretty Lights, who is quickly becoming the go to hip hop impresario. It's so simple, yet so  effective. I don't really need to say much else other than Rest In Peace Biggie, you are still missed.

Tennis Played The Bell House Last Night

So Tennis played the Bell House last night, which, in my humble opinion is the best music venue in New York. It's tiny, maybe holds 250 people and there is not a bad spot in the house. Their story is an interesting one. A married Colorado couple decides to sail the East Coast for 7 months together and strike out on an adventure. They come home, and decide they should write some songs about it. They produce an album and give it to some friends, the album blows up, and they are a band. Their sound is a mix of the Beach Boys meets the Cranberries meets I'm not quite sure what. But it works, and its good. Light, airy, whimsical, and fun, they put on a great show. And showed no signs of how new to this they really are. Check out the live taping from the Bowery Ballroom over at NYC Taper

Introducing Saigon - The Greatest Story Never Told

Talk about art imitating life. Or vice versa. I don't even know where to begin. Hi Saigon. I remember you from Entourage?? Yep. Apparently Turtle's ticket out is the real deal. And while I cringed when I heard who this guy is, just like I'm sure you're doing, he's actually good. He's got great flow and beats to back it. Thanks to the Negotiator on this one. Good looks. Listen up:
