Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks (The Knocks Remix)

So it should come as no surprise that we have the Knocks' work sneaking up on TMD once again. This time, it's in the form of a remix to Of Monster And Men's "Little Talks". It's quite an interesting remix, just based on the two very different musical stylings of each group. Of Monsters And Men is a six piece indie group from Iceland; while the Knocks is two dudes just slaying it from Brooklyn. Simple as that. Well, here, it works out to sound like pure sonic bliss.

Air Traffic Controller - You Know Me

This is the first I've heard of Air Traffic Controller. But that means nothing because apparently they've been around since 1993. Shows how much this guy knows. Anyways, they're from Nova Scotia, and I'm really loving this track.

Trails And Ways - Mtn Tune

Trails and Ways are at it again. Their brand of bossa nova dream pop is on full display here. I'm diggin' it.

Moon Boots - Sugar

Holy shit. This just had delicious written all over it from the go. So smooth. Oozing with style and funk. Moon Boots checking in. Wow. Love the Janet Jackson sample too. Well done. Definitely deserving a spot on your pool side mix for August. Guaranteed to make you some friends.

Visitor - RNB

This is a new track which hit our inbox today from Visitor out of London, UK. They ceertainly have that big 80's vibe going on here with huge synths. Molly Ringwald called, she wants her sound track back. Be sure to cop their album when it drops September 10th.

The Knocks are just killing it right now. This video is also killing it right now. Uh oh, Geronimo!

Ghost Beach - Been There Before

So Ghost Beach released their July single yesterday and it's just as good as we've come to expect from the boys. The hook on this track is undeniable. They continue to show their range with each single they drop. Their star continues to rise and we love to see it doing so. They clearly have the formula down. Josh knows how to write a damn good pop song. I'm loving the 80's inspired bass line and the tropical vibe all around. Certainly another track to put on your summer playlist.

If you're in New York, be sure to catch their show next Thursday 7/26 at Pianos. You can get tickets here: Should be a total dance party. They certainly know how to bring it live. Don't miss out.

Germany Germany - Stockholm Feat. Kotomi

So the long awaited album is finally out. Drew Harris has released his latest masterpiece. Drew Harris has called it his most unusual album, jumping from one genre to the next. The one thing I will say is that every track I have had the chance to listen to has been superb. It came out yesterday and is available for $5. He's even got some cassettes if you're into the whole beta thing. Be sure to check out his bandcamp here: and help a brutha out.

Theophilus London - Dance Hall Days

Things have been pretty hectic here at TMD. Only in the best of ways. But when things get hectic, sometimes things slip through the cracks. Case in point: Theophilus London's mixtape dropped last week, and I'm just getting around to listening to it. Anyways, this cover of Wang Ghung's "Dance Hall Days" is absolutely awesome. Totally spot on and worth a listen. Theo's the man. Everything is dope.

Shelby Great - Wild Youth (Goldroom Remix)

Yet another dope remix from Goldroom. He continues to amaze me. Everything he touches is, well, nah I'm not gonna say it. It's too easy. Goldroom is Josh Legg, and he has been on an absolute tear lately.

Ghost Beach & Trails And Ways

So our boys Ghost Beach are doing exactly what we thought they would. They are bringing their unique brand of Tropical Grit Pop to the masses, winning over the hearts and minds with every show and every single they drop. It's been really fun to watch as they grow. And they've been doing it all in a very unique and creative way. They're taking the record industry and turning it on its head.

This is just another example of them doing just that. They teamed up with Trails and Ways to scratch each other's backs as it were; remixing and covering each other's tunes. And the end result is simply stunning. They have two very unique but different sounds, so it's fun to hear their takes on each other's work. Take a listen, it's awesome.

Be on the lookout for July's single from Ghost Beach next week. It's sure to be just as dope as ever.

Justice - Newlands (Official Video)

If Daft Punk and Justice decided to invent a sport, it would be: this.

The Knocks & Fred Falke - Geronimo EP Minimix

If you're still unfamiliar with the Knocks, you need to get your head out of your ass. This should be just a dope as the rest.

Bloc Party - Octopus (RAC Remix)

Well well well, if it isn't the boys from RAC at it again. Just killin it like they always do. They just dropped this remix today and it is certainly worthy of a dozen listens. I love the synths and the re-work just like everything else they do.

Germany Germany - With You

Drew Harris of Germany Germany has a bright future ahead of him. I'm absolutely loving this track and I'm excited to hear where he takes us with the rest of his album. It's due out July 16th.

Bonus Post! Check out Drew's cover of College - Real Hero featuring LA-based producer Kotomi. I like it alot!

RAC - Hollywood Feat. Penguin Prison (Felix Da Housecat Remix)

So we already put up the original version of this track. But Felix Da Housecat puts his own little spin on this and it is certainly worth a listen. Seriously check it out. You won't be able to get it out of your head. Side note, I used to love Mountain Dew as a kid. Now they've got a label. Now I've seen it all.

Santigold - The Keepers (The Knocks Remix)

This came out last week and these guys are just killing it right now. We saw The Knocks last week at Brooklyn Bowl with our hometown favorite Ghost Beach. It was a show for the ages. If you don't know about the Knocks yet, now you do.

MS MR - Track Addict Volume 1

So MS MR is a mysterious situation. No one really knows anything about them. They just dropped this mix tape with a typed written note. And off they go. We'll find out about them when they go on tour this month. I love the mystery.

Metric - Artificial Nocturne (Love Thy Brother Remix)

Just a total face melt type situation. Loved it from the get go. Metric killing it and Love Thy Brother just leaving it all out there. Let summer reign!

Gold & Youth - Time To Kill

We're gonna take a little step back here and just let this one play out. Right off the bat, I was hooked. I knew something was coming. The vocals are a little off putting to start, but this plays out well. This is a very different track. But it's good nonetheless. It's a nice change of pace. It takes me to a place that's familiar but I can't put my finger on it. It might just be Southern Florida in 1987. Not so sure yet. But that's the leader in the club house. Gold & Youth are coming to us from Vancouver, BC. So, about the farthest from South Florida as you can be. Doesn't matter, it's good.

RAC - If You Forget Me (Gigamesh Remix)

Sometimes things slip by. Sometimes we have to look back and make sure we didn't miss anything. And in this case we see that we clearly missed this one. Somehow this came out two years ago, and I'm just digging into it now. It makes sense, it's RAC and Gigamesh, both of whom crank out bangers. So yeah, this makes sense. Anyways, give this a listen. It's awesome.

In case you were wondering. Here's the original, which is dope in its own right.

The Weeknd vs Daft Punk - Morning Love (Club Clique Mashup)

As soon as this hit my inbox I was excited. For many reasons. Mainly three: 1 - Every rework from these guys is always a total banger. 2: Daft Punk, not much more to say there. 3: The Weeknd is definitely worth a listen on his own right with his beautiful gangster rap as I like to call it. All three combine to make this one the most worthy thing you listen to today.

Massive Swell At Tavarua

Just surfing buildings bro.

The Penelopes - Summer Life (Gigamesh Remix)

Seems like an appropriate track for today. It's dope.

The Knocks - Memorial Day Mix

It may be a couple weeks after Memorial Day, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be rocking this every weekend. The Knocks absolutely slay this mix and it's a must have for your summer playlist. Especially if you're pool partying or yachting. Whatever.

Young Galaxy - Shoreless Kid

Heavenly. First word that comes to mind when I stumbled across this one. Young Galaxy come to us from Vancouver, and they've been at it for a while. This one sticks with me. It's on repeat.

Little Boots - Headphones

How about a little disco for your Tuesday? Little Boots aka Victoria Christina Hesketh comes to us from Blackpool, England. She nails it on this one. I wear my headphones at the disco too, girl.

Kill Paris - I'm Free

I'm starting to feel like I'm on Kill Paris' payroll. I'm not. But I can't get enough of him lately. He is on the rise in a big way and if he keeps releasing tracks like this, well, I'm just going to have to continue talking about him. It's just the way it's got to be. I will say, I am catching some Madeon influence in this track, with the chopped up vocals strung together to make a beautifully coherent chorus. Makes me think of Madeon's Pop Culture. I like it alot.

Madeon - Finale

Madeon is back with a banger. Homeboy knows how to crank them out. And I'm pretty sure he is still in high school; as evidenced by his picture above. Whatever,  kid is legit.

Ghost Beach - Miracle (Viceroy Remix)

Our boys over at Ghost Beach get the remix treatment from Viceroy today. These guys are just straight killing it right now. Everything they touch has been gold thus far. They are in the studio finishing up their debut album and I can't wait to hear what they have in store for us. Keep an eye on these guys.

Germany Germany - Departure - Video Premiere

Here's a new video from Drew Harris, the man behind Germany Germany, for his new single: Departure, which was featured a while back here on the site, but now we've got a nice shiny video to share too. Check it out. His album, Blank Mind, Empty Heart is due out in July. I can't wait to hear what else he has up his sleeve.

Is Tropical - South Pacific

Is Tropical and Crystal Fighters played Music Hall of Williamsburg last night. In what was the most out of left field and surprisingly awesome show of the year so far, both bands completely slayed it. The house was packed for Is Tropical and they brought it from the start. I was unsure how their sound would translate live. Well, they quickly answered that question. They sounded awesome. Give them a listen. For a while I thought that Crystal Fighters had their work cut out for them, which they did. But they were up to the challenge as well. Bringing their own brand of weird energy and awesome vibes, with their Jesus like front man and shirtless guitarist. They killed it too. I cannot stress how fun both of them were. Check them out.

FEVR PITCH - Before The World Ends

So FEVR PITCH is a project from Corey Baker, the man behind Kill Paris; who incidentally is absolutely blowing up my page right now. But, you've got to give it to the man. He puts out bangers. So what do we think of this one gang?

Kill Paris - Keep Your Secrets In Midnight City

Just when you thought it was safe to call it a day with the remixes to M83's Midnight City, it's not. But it's tough to even call this a remix. Really, it's more of a sample. And a tasteful one at that. Kill Paris first came onto my radar a couple weeks ago with his uber catchy "Shades of Funk". This keeps things going. Definitely give him a listen. Worthy of a couple minutes. Banger.

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Ladyhawke - Sunday Drive

Not sure how I missed this leak. Ladyhawke's got an album coming out May 29th. I was pretty taken aback with her debut album back in 2009. She's got a great and unique sound. I am excited to hear what her follow album has in store. For some reason I don't think it will disappoint.

Beastie Boys Sabotage - Amazing Tribute Video

Kill Paris - Shades Of Funk

Oh word?! A head bobber from the get go. Instantly catchy and you're hooked.

Brooklyn Decker - GQ Photo Shoot

This is  pretty self explanatory here. But I must say. A very tasteful and well done video here. I love the music and the use of the old analog TV's and VHS tapes. The whole thing was just visually stunning. And Brooklyn Decker's OK too. The artist is Glass Candy; the track is "Feeling Without Touching".

The Twelves - 08.05.2012

Loving this track right now. These guys are playing at Le Poisson Rouge on Saturday night. Check them out!

Thursday, May 10, 2012

R.A.C. - Hollywood (Feat. Penguin Prison)

Just another solid tune from R.A.C. Whimsical and airy, just in time for summer. Happy to see the homeboy Penguin Prison getting some work too. He's been around for a few years now. Just opened for Miike Snow at Terminal 5 a couple weeks ago. It's about time he got his.

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Ghost Beach - Miracle

Another solid tune from the Ghost Beach boys. Josh Ocean and Eric Mendelsohn continue to take it to eleven. They are playing this weekend at Spike Hill in Williamsburg if you're around. Well, they're playing whether or not you're around. But if you are, you have no excuse not to go. These guys are one of the most talented bands I have come across in quite some time and I look forward to watching their meteoric rise to the top. Take a listen won't you?

Code Red @ Teahupoo

Death on a stick out there, mate!

Goldroom - Fifteen

Teen Daze - What You Feel

The Knocks - Learn To Fly

Passion Pit - Take A Walk

It's been a while since we heard anything out of the Passion Pit camp. To be honest, I sort of forgot they existed. I'll be curious to see if they can back up their ridiculously successful and catchy album "Manners" with their forthcoming one. Due out in July. What do you think?

Friday, May 4, 2012

Adam Yauch aka MCA Is Dead - Rest In Peace

He was too young. He will be missed. It is a very sad day today. He was an integral part of the soundtrack of my youth. We were blessed to have him.

Kate Upton - The Cat Daddy?

Ok - so, we're breaking from tradition here. They say sex sells. Well consider this an experiment.

Nas - Take It In Blood

I found my old CD book the other day going through my stuff at my house. It's sort of like a time capsule. This was before itunes and ipods. Just straight up scratched CD's, in a gigantically cumbersome case that weighs about 30 pounds. A model of inefficiency, really. But anyways, I slipped in Nas' It Was Written and it was the first time I have heard that album since college at least. I time traveled. And thought, it was time for a throwback on TMD. So check it out. It's just as good, if not better than it was 15 years ago.

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Logic - Tic Tac Toe

Logic is coming to us from Maryland and he's bringing some heat. I like the slow drawl. I like the slow beat. It's simple. The bass drop comes in and makes me want to cruise in a '64 real slow.

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Hoodie Allen - No Interruption

Hoodie. Kid knows how to flow. He's clearly intelligent and his pop culture references are always on point. Especially if you're a white kid from the upper middle class suburbs. So, yeah it works. He knows his target audience. I mean homeboy drops an Anders Holmvic reference. Now that's some tight you b_____.

Theophilus London - Love Is Real (Fred Falke)

BOOM! Thank you. It's a track like this that can completely ignite the manic that lays dormant in music department in the brain. It's a track like this that makes you realize that everything you've been listening to is shit. Theophilus is no stranger on TMD, and he continues to bring it. He has impeccable beats and melodies. And his flow shines bright on this one. Complete with Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the thigh references. I'll take it. Take it to eleven. Tell you you're not ready to go after the first 15 seconds of this track.

Krewella - Killin' It

The homie Max has been beating down my door to get me to listen to Krewella. I finally got a chance to sit down and take a listen. And while I've gone on record saying I cannot even begin to understand what is going on with the whole dubstep movement, this is pretty damn good. Dubstep or not. I mean, well, it's definitely dubstep. But I think it's pretty damn good, and can definitely see why this would be fun to get all droopy to at a show. Anyways, check it out. I still don't like dubstep. This is the exception to the rule.

There's also a little drum n bass breakdown in the middle of the track. Which got me to thinking. Is dubstep the modern day drum n bass? Because drum n bass was definitely a thing for like 3 years from like '99 - '02. So, maybe the torch has been passed.

The Cast of Cheers - Animals

The propulsive singles “Family” and “Animals” have already stormed the radio airwaves and hooked listeners, and now, Irish quartet The Cast of Cheers are getting ready to unleash their first proper album, released June 18th on School Boy Error/ Co-operative Music. Ahead of the release of their first proper debut album later in the year, the band are releasing “Animals”, a rousing, raucous monster of a track which nimbly hopscotches between delirious guitar loops, jackhammer synths and anthemic vocals to create a white knuckled rollercoaster of a ride in its sweet but succinct running time.

Teddybears come to us from Sweden. They've got a seriously demented sound. And I'm ok with that.

Shane McConkey Documentary Teaser

This should be awesome. Obviously brought to you by the kind folks at Red Bull. Who, apparently produce just about everything now.

Ghost Beach - Faded

I'm really enjoying everything that Ghost Beach has been putting out there since their inception in November. On this track though, they go in a bit of a different direction. And it works. I'm catching a lot of Glitch Mob-esque style in this one. With the chopped up synths and bass, it definitely sounds good.

Sebastian Tellier- Cochon Ville

I love it. Simple and to the point. But make no mistake, it's a very sexy song. The synth is consistent and right where it needs to be. Sebastian Tellier brings us along for a smooth little cruise. It's a bit repetitive but it works.

Red Bull Stratos - Certifiable

Are you kidding me??? Felix Baumgartner successfully jumped from 71, 580 feet in the first test jump leading up to this summer’s 120,000 foot record attempt. He has one more test flight/jump from 90,000 feet coming up.

Say what you want about red bull, but they are funding some pretty serious stuff. This is just straight up nuts. I'm way into it.

New Build - Mercury Lounge

What do you get when you form a band with former members of LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip? You get New Build. Who made their US debut this week at Mercury Lounge with two consecutive nights of sellout shows. Lead singer Al Doyle was as happy as could be thanking the crowd endlessly for coming out in support. He actually seemed shocked that they sold out the tiny 250 person venue. Or that anyone had heard of his little band. Anyone in the crowd would have thought otherwise. Just on paper alone, it's a band that intrigues. It seems like a no brainer. I love LCD Soundsystem, and I like Hot Chip, so, yeah. I'm in. It proved to be a good move. They rocked. The 50 minute set was brief but solid. Can't wait to hear more from them. Be sure to cop their album
