RAC - If You Forget Me (Gigamesh Remix)

Sometimes things slip by. Sometimes we have to look back and make sure we didn't miss anything. And in this case we see that we clearly missed this one. Somehow this came out two years ago, and I'm just digging into it now. It makes sense, it's RAC and Gigamesh, both of whom crank out bangers. So yeah, this makes sense. Anyways, give this a listen. It's awesome.

In case you were wondering. Here's the original, which is dope in its own right.

Is Tropical - South Pacific

Is Tropical and Crystal Fighters played Music Hall of Williamsburg last night. In what was the most out of left field and surprisingly awesome show of the year so far, both bands completely slayed it. The house was packed for Is Tropical and they brought it from the start. I was unsure how their sound would translate live. Well, they quickly answered that question. They sounded awesome. Give them a listen. For a while I thought that Crystal Fighters had their work cut out for them, which they did. But they were up to the challenge as well. Bringing their own brand of weird energy and awesome vibes, with their Jesus like front man and shirtless guitarist. They killed it too. I cannot stress how fun both of them were. Check them out.

Nas - Take It In Blood

I found my old CD book the other day going through my stuff at my house. It's sort of like a time capsule. This was before itunes and ipods. Just straight up scratched CD's, in a gigantically cumbersome case that weighs about 30 pounds. A model of inefficiency, really. But anyways, I slipped in Nas' It Was Written and it was the first time I have heard that album since college at least. I time traveled. And thought, it was time for a throwback on TMD. So check it out. It's just as good, if not better than it was 15 years ago.

Beanie Sigel - Glock Nines (Ratatat Remix)

This is definitely a throwback. But it's a damn good song for your Friday. Rediscovered this while waxing over some beers last night and thought it was worthy of a post. Even if it's not new, it's damn good. And worth a listen to take you into the weekend. I'd like to run some groomers in Aspen listening to this.

Cities Aviv - Coastin

Last post of 2011. It's been an interesting one to say the least. Here's to having good times with good people. Props to Buckley on this one. Cities Aviv is coming to us straight out of Memphis. This is just straight up good hip hop. No two ways about it. We don't like much hip hop here, but when we do. We really like it. Seems like an appropriate way to close out 2011. Happy New Year.

The Glitch Mob - We Can Make The World Stop

We featured these guys a while back in the GoPro HD Hero video we put up. But in case you missed it. This track is not new, but seems like you should hear it again today. It should definitely be on your winter shred mix.

Avicii - Levels (Skrillex Remix)

I mean, this is a bit gratuitous. At this point I'm sure you've heard something about this mix. It was already the most hyped and played out track of the year, so why wouldn't Skrillex - Mr. Awful Haircut & Glasses himself remix it? And shut down the internet while he's at it. It's like Armageddon if you love dubstep and house, lock the doors and turn out the lights. It's all over. On a side note, it's pretty decent.

Chromeo - Hot Mess (Duck Sauce Remix)

It's not new. But that doesn't matter. I was digging around the archives last night and stumbled upon this little gem. Seems like a nice way to send it into the weekend. Chromeo and Duck Sauce is a fitting pair. This remix is magical. Enjoy it. A good song to put your pants on to, or take someone elses off. Deadmou5 Live in London

Thanks to Sully for sending this one in. Say what you want about Deadmou5, but the guy certainly knows how to put on a show. These are some pretty sweet visuals to say the least.

Starfucker - Hungry Ghost

Not new, but this came on my ipod on shuffle today. And more people need to know about Starfucker. The band with a rather unfortunate name. Names aside, their album Reptilians is top shelf and worth a full download. We've featured them on TMD before. But sometimes, you need to dig back into the crates and give the people some more. A great song for a rainy Friday morning. Enjoy.

1979 - (ft. Liz Anjos)

I swear to god. Every time these guys put something out it's better than the last thing they did. This continues that trend. Here, they take Smashing Pumpkins' "1979" and strip it down and build it back up from scratch. The result, is wonderful. Light and fluffy, while paying homage to the original from whence it came. Spot on. Again.

Daft Punk - Drive (Previously Unreleased)

After a much hyped and blah release of the Tron soundtrack, I'm still starved for some fresh Daft Punk. This will have to do for now, an unreleased track from 1994 as part of Soma Records' 20th anniversary. We can only hope and wait for a new album and world tour.

Tokyo Police Club - All My Friends (LCD cover)

Look at the ironic picture of the band on the Brooklyn waterfront! Look at the Williamsburg Bridge in the background! Look at the LCD Soundsystem cover! Still not as good as the original. But noteworthy because I miss LCD. If I'm Tokyo Police Club, I don't touch this one with a ten foot pole. James Murphy nailed it. No one else can ever really spin it. Crystal Fighters - In The Summer

TCC has been beating down my door for months trying to get me to listen to these guys and I have no excuse for myself. They're fantastic. This video is absurd. And their sound is about as bonkers as their video. Prepare to have your face melted.

Blackbird Blackbird - Pure

This is hands down, without a doubt, the most visually stunning piece of motion picture I have ever seen. Absolutely beautiful. Don't watch if you have epilepsy. Otherwise, enjoy the ride, space cadets.

LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends (LEGO Video)

They might be dead. But this is a pretty sweet adaptation of the video. This also happens to be one of my favorite tracks of theirs. It's just beautiful.

Teen Daze - Four More Years

From our newest writer, Joe Housel. Joe wrote up his first post yesterday with his review of the U2 Show at the Meadowlands. We are pleased to welcome Joe on board as a staff writer and look forward to hearing from him on a more regular basis. I got an email from him last night with his first 5 tracks that he wanted to review and this, while not the newest track, stuck with me. It's about a year old, but it's fantastic. I'm excited to see what else Joe is into and we should all look forward to hearing from him. This one reminds him of summer. I concur.

Cut Copy - Lights and Music (Moulinex Remix)

So this one really slipped through the cracks on me. I mean, Cut Copy has been around, and Lights and Music was on my radar a couple years ago, but this remix just went right past the goalie. This is an absolute stunner. Caught me right off the bat, and grabbed a hold and wouldn't let go. This is one that you bring the house down with. This is where things go to eleven. This just has that certain something that puts people into a frenzy. This is what it means to peak. Enjoy it. And then play it again.

Pryda - M.S.B.O.Y.

This is it. The opening track on the soundtrack to my yet to be produced snowboard film. Also known as a floorgasm. Also known as a banger. It's not new, but I hadn't heard this until Saturday. It doesn't really matter. I can just see it now. Enjoy.
