Cities Aviv - Coastin

Last post of 2011. It's been an interesting one to say the least. Here's to having good times with good people. Props to Buckley on this one. Cities Aviv is coming to us straight out of Memphis. This is just straight up good hip hop. No two ways about it. We don't like much hip hop here, but when we do. We really like it. Seems like an appropriate way to close out 2011. Happy New Year.

Miike Snow - Devil's Work (Alex Metric Remix)

Miike Snow is back. After an extensive and exhausting world tour. Believe me, it was exhausting. I saw them kick off the tour, and caught their final show of the tour. It was like seeing two different bands. They were amazing in the first show, and awful in the second. They desperately needed to get some new material. Now they have some. They have released a single from their upcoming album. Bring on the remixes. Miike Snow - Devil's Work (Alex Metric Remix) by alexmetric

The Glitch Mob - We Can Make The World Stop

We featured these guys a while back in the GoPro HD Hero video we put up. But in case you missed it. This track is not new, but seems like you should hear it again today. It should definitely be on your winter shred mix.

We Can Make The World Stop by The Glitch Mob

M83 - Midnight City (Remix Par Who Killed JR)

In keeping with the Captain Obvious theme we've had going this weekend, I present you with yet another rendition of M83's otherwise perfect overture: Midnight City. I actually enjoy this one quite a bit. And while I think the song should just stand on its own, it's inevitable that this thing will be chopped and screwed a dozen ways from Sunday for the next year. This is what I deem to be the best thus far. I particularly like the piano in the intro and breakdown. He adds another layer of synth which is subtle yet tasteful. The rest of the track pretty much let's Mr. Gonzalez's original version shine through. That's how it should be.

M83 - Midnight City (remixé par Who Killed JR) by \\Who Killed JR?

Avicii - Levels (Skrillex Remix)

I mean, this is a bit gratuitous. At this point I'm sure you've heard something about this mix. It was already the most hyped and played out track of the year, so why wouldn't Skrillex - Mr. Awful Haircut & Glasses himself remix it? And shut down the internet while he's at it. It's like Armageddon if you love dubstep and house, lock the doors and turn out the lights. It's all over. On a side note, it's pretty decent.

Girl Walk - All Day

Girl Walk // All Day: Chapter 1 from Girl Walk // All Day on Vimeo.

This should prove to be pretty amazing. Girl Talk's entire album All Day as danced through the streets of New York City. Brilliant. It's slow in the beginning put Girl Talk drops the hammer at the 2:25 mark.

Chromeo - Hot Mess (Duck Sauce Remix)

It's not new. But that doesn't matter. I was digging around the archives last night and stumbled upon this little gem. Seems like a nice way to send it into the weekend. Chromeo and Duck Sauce is a fitting pair. This remix is magical. Enjoy it. A good song to put your pants on to, or take someone elses off. Ghost Beach - First Time

It's been a minute since I've heard a track that grabbed me right off the bat. Finally I get that familiar feeling back thanks to NYC duo Ghost Beach. As soon as that synthesizer kicks in, you just know its going to be good. I'm looking forward to hearing more from these guys. Turn it up. It's addicting.

This Is My Winter - Full Length Film

If you haven't heard of Xavier De La Rue, now you have. He is by far the ballsiest and most badass mountaineer in the snowboard world right now. And I say mountaineer because that is what he is. He is descending some of the gnarliest terrain on the planet in ways that the world has never seen. I attended the premiere of TB20 last week in New York and had a chance to see Xavier's part in that film. It's about 5 minutes long. It does him no justice. This film, This is My Winter, which he made about his season and the search for getting his video part shots is far more interesting and thrilling. Give this a watch when you've got a good half an hour to fully appreciate what this guy is doing. It's white knuckle stuff. My hat is off to Xavier and his gang. Great work guys. Keep pushing forward.

M83 Played Webster Hall

It was definitely the hottest ticket in town last night. Scalpers were selling them at over $200 a pop. Even the rain couldn't keep the people away. M83 has had a big year with the release of their newest and most critically acclaimed album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming and the accompanying tour.

What's amazing though, is M83 has been around for 10 years and has 6 albums under their belt. But people are really just discovering them. And last night it showed. As Anthony Gonzalez looked out onto the crowd with the house lights on, you could see the look of bewilderment on his face. Even he was shocked his band sold out Webster Hall. I wasn't.

I wondered what they would sound like live. M83 has that very electronic and sometimes over produced sound that you wonder how it will carry over to a live show. Well, let me tell you. They nailed it. They were tight and on point. The crowd at Webster Hall wanted so badly to dance, but they were afraid everyone was looking at them. Finally, as the first notes of Steve McQueen started playing, nobody had a choice. It had reached a boiling point and people couldn't hold back anymore. To say it was an awesome show would be selling it short. I'm still amazed at how on it they were. My only complaint was that it was far too short. They certainly left everyone wanting more.

People Are Awesome

Seems kind of cheesy. But there's no denying the epicity of this video. Yep, I said epicity.

Taj Burrow in Fiji - (Awesome Footage)

This is surfer Taj Burrow doing what he does best in Fiji. It's some of the most beautiful surf footage I have seen in a very long time. Just stunning.

Pretty Lights - It's Tricky

Say what you want about the man, but Derek Vincent Smith aka Pretty Lights knows how to carve up a track and serve it up fresh. He is in my mind, one of the more creative producers / remixers of the moment. He doesn't just take a track and add new drums and change the synths. He completely chops it up into bits and pieces and reassembles it into something almost completely unrecognizable. In this case, it's Run DMC's It's Tricky. The result is a slow and trippy rendition that is a totally new take on the song in and of itself. It's quite good.

Washed Out - Call It Off

Call It Off is a new track off of Washed Out's new single for "Amor Fati". It's very good.
Washed Out - Call It Off by Weird World Record Co

Joker - The Vision (Let Me Breathe)

Liam McClean, the man behind Joker gets it. His brand of dubstep is acceptable. In fact it's not just acceptable, it's good. This is just filthy. The proper amount of dark and dreary and bass and synths wrapped around some delicious vocals. Perfect for you to enjoy on this gloomy Monday.

Small Black - Moon Killer Mixtape

Small Black released a free mixtape last week. They're also playing at Glasslands tonight in Williamsburg. Go check it out. Get tickets here. Here it is:

MOON KILLER MIXTAPE by Small Black

Childish Gambino - Heartbeat

We are a little late on this one. You'll have to excuse me. I've been having a few technical difficulties over at headquarters. But excuses are for losers, so I won't make any more. Anyways, besides his lame, Wu Tang Clan-Name generator name, Childish Gambino is pretty talented. I find his voice to be a little whiny at times, but there is no denying that this track is dope. It's got a slight Daft Punk feel to it with the pulsing bass line and synth. I like it. A lot. It kind of just slaps you across the face, tells you to shut the fuck up and listen. So, you know, do that. If you already haven't. Childish Gambino - Heartbeat by Hypetrak

The Jezabels - Trycolour

The Jezabels are from Sydney. And lord knows I love girls from Sydney. The accent just kills me. Anyway, they've been around since 2007 and clearly are making their way on up. I'm getting a little Debbie Harry / Joan Jett kind of vibe here too. That's bonus points.

The Denali Experiment

Yet another awesome film coming out that you should go see. This looks intense. Denali is a beast. I went to Denali when I was 14 and it was by far one of the coolest trips of my life. We spent a week in the park and it's outskirts. One of best memories from that trip for me was taking a prop plane out of Talkeetna, AK. We had a total space cadet for a pilot, but I guess you kind of have to be to be a pilot based out of Talkeetna. He let me grab the stick for a bit and literally fly through the mountains. I was 14. Probably not the safest thing to do. But certainly the coolest. We flew right over and around Denali. It was majestic and completely awe inspiring seeing planes landing on the base camp dropping off hikers and supplies, I knew I had to go back someday. I have not been back yet, but fully plan on it some day before I die. This is lighting the fire.

One For The Road - TGR's 2011 HD Ski Film

These are the guys I was talking about when I said that the torch has been passed on from Warren Miller.

Solitaire - A Backcountry Skiing, Snowboarding and Telemark Film

SOLITAIRE: A Backcountry Skiing, Snowboarding, and Telemark Film from Sweetgrass Productions on Vimeo.

I apologize for the overwhelming amount of snow related posts lately, but I mean come on! Aspen is opening in a week. Killington is already open and has been since October! Global warming who? I am amped for this season, and if the weather kooks are right, it should be just as, if not more epic than last season with La Nina coming back for round two. Get your gear right.

Solitaire looks visually stunning and like it's definitely worth a watch. A little about the film from the producers:

In the high desert of South America, winter takes hold, devouring bleached bones and abandoned shacks. Into these most inhospitable of lands, a handful of drifters emerge from the whiteout, ready to cast their lot on forsaken peaks both merciless and magnificent. Venturing beyond the frontiers of most mountain films, Solitaire is backcountry skiing forged in the tradition of Western cinema. Born in the spires of Argentina’s legendary Las Lenas, a lonely two-year journey begins through an abandoned world, wandering the length of a continent from Peru’s Cordillera Blanca to Chilean Patagonia.Lost in the winds of snowbound badlands and the blizzards of primordial forests; seen from a horse’s saddle and a paraglider’s wings; ridden on ski and board and telemark...
Solitaire fuses western-inspired tales of backcountry gambles into landscapes never before visited on film.

Shot on location in: Las Lenas, Argentina; Portillo, Chile;
Nevados de Chillan, Chile; Patagonia, Chile; Bariloche, Argentina; Caviahue, Argentina; Huaraz, Peru; Iquitos, Peru; Uyuni, Bolivia; and Sajama, Bolivia.

Warren Miller's "Like There's No Tomorrow" - Review

I am a child of the 80's and 90's. That is to say, I grew up watching Warren Miller films. I remember those winter nights sitting in my basement, watching the latest Warren Miller flick, getting amped up to head north to Stowe or Loon the following morning at 4am. Those were sleepless nights. The adrenaline already pumping as I lay awake, picturing myself in his films, shredding Loon like it was Squaw Valley or Revelstoke. And for more than two decades, Warren Miller films were the gold standard; the measuring stick. He had mastered the art of the story. He had mastered the quirky comedy and epic pow shots with the music to match. He basically created the mold.

This is the most painful post I have ever written. I went to see his latest film "Like There's No Tomorrow" last night and I must say the torch has been passed. I'm not saying Warren needs to hang them up, but the formula is old and outdated. The films are still edited and cut exactly the same way they were in 1987. There has been no progression. It's the same story as it was 20 years ago. And that's not a good thing. The cheese level is high, the forced comedy skits are brutal, and aside from one Tuneyards track, the soundtrack was completely bland and forgettable. So was the footage. There was nothing epic to speak of. My jaw never hit the floor. It was just a collection of slow motion powder turns and some low level kickers. It worked better when Warren narrated the films himself.

The one highlight was the section on Tuckerman's Ravine, the southeast face of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. A right of passage for any east coast skier. The fact that they devoted 10 minutes to that part of the world was very cool. And they managed to make it look as epic as any piste around. I give them props for that. As an east coaster I can appreciate that.

Anyways, it's pretty clear to see the game has changed with the likes of Travis Rice and Curt Morgan, TGR, Jeremy Jones, Matchstick Productions and any of the progressive filmmakers out there: the torch has been passed. Warren Miller set the standard for decades, but the bar has been raised. We can all tip our hats to Warren for showing these younger guys the way. It is progression. They took what they learned from him and have built on it. It's how we get better. Thanks Warren.

Chromeo - Don't Turn The Lights On

Chromeo played Terminal 5 Friday and Saturday night. I was lucky enough to go Friday night. And it was bonkers. One of the better shows I've been to in a long time. They certainly can put on a spectacle. True showman, they were tight and on point. It was a total dance party from start to finish. Apparently there was an unofficial dress code, and that code was plaid for men, sexy outfits for women. It was certainly a lively and attractive crowd. As they chanted "Chromeo, oh oh" I felt like I was walking down the stairs and out into the boxing ring. The energy was high as they went right into their set playing all of their classics with great reditions of "Momma's Boy" "Bonafied Lovin" and energized versions of "Hot Mess" and "Don't Turn the Lights On" complete with Robert Palmer-esque backup singers and Peter Frampton-esque talk box. They couldn't have put on a better show. It had been a while since I had listened to Chromeo. Now they are back in heavy rotation, and I wonder why they ever left.

Lana Del Ray - Blue Jeans (Club Clique Remix)

In what was an already amazing song, Club Clique has managed to make it even better. Lana Del Rey is the "it" girl of the moment and it's not undeserved. She has an amazing voice and a very unique delivery. She also happens to be drop dead gorgeous which certianly doesn't hurt her appeal. But her voice and talent stand on their own. I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing more from her.

LIPS - Everything To Me (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)

This is the kind of dubstep I can tolerate. It's not totally aggressive. It's a little more subtle and not so in your face. Dubstep seems to be turning into a pissing contest of who can create the most ridiculous, over the top, filthy bass. Even if it doesn't actually have any continuity or redeeming audio quality. Which is why I think most dubstep sucks. Because, well it does. But there is some tasteful dubstep out there as well. If you can weed through all the Frat Step you can find gems like this. Where it makes sense, and sounds.... good! Crazy to think about, I know. But how do you even dance to dubstep? I don't know. What I do know is this is good. And you should listen.

Mord Fustang - The Electric Dream (Fussy Boy Remix)

OK. I am not down with the whole take a popular name, switch out the first letters like a 5 year old and POOF! It's a new name. Regardless, of his moniker this is solid music here. A banger which is nice, I hadn't heard one of those in a while. He's reppin Estonia. Look out.

Hoodie Allen - James Franco

Hoodie has been around for a couple years now bouncing around the internet. He first caught our ear with his You Are Not A Robot take on Marina & The Diamonds. He's been on a pretty steady climb since. He's no stranger to TMD. But's it's been a while since he's been featured up here. He lost some luster for a bit, but he's back strong with this anthem named after non other than Mr. James Franco. His flow is back and he's got a solid beat to work with on this. I'm glad to see him bounce back after some of his recent work was either too experimental or just not as good as we've come to expect from the white boy from Penn. Good work Hoodie. Best line of the track : "If I were hipster I would have posted this on vimeo." So very true. He posted on youtube.

Holy Face Melt Batman! I feel that I start every Justice post with the same sentence. Which I will share with you once again: Every time I hear something new from Justice, it is better than the last. They are truly getting better with age. I also appreciate the classic rock influences that can be readily heard in their latest tracks. This album is going to be ridiculous, everything we've heard so far is top shelf.

Starfucker - Hungry Ghost

Not new, but this came on my ipod on shuffle today. And more people need to know about Starfucker. The band with a rather unfortunate name. Names aside, their album Reptilians is top shelf and worth a full download. We've featured them on TMD before. But sometimes, you need to dig back into the crates and give the people some more. A great song for a rainy Friday morning. Enjoy.

Further - The Official Trailer

Anxiously awaiting this release. For now, this will have to do. What Travis Rice has accomplished with That's It, That's All and The Art of Flight, Jeremy goes the opposite direction. No choppers. Just a man and the mountain. And that can be a pretty scary thing sometimes. Neither guy is right or wrong. It's just interesting to see two radically different ways of skinning the apple with equally insane results. Kudos to both of them.

Justice - Newlands

Sounds like the intro to ACDC's "For Those About To Rock" Justice continues to bring the heat. What else is new? Everything they touch turns into gold. And that's just fine by me. This track is a little slow to pick up with the ACDC-esque intro, building steadily until the Led Zepplin, "Whole Lotta Love"-esque breakdown and it's all perfect. I'm thoroughly appreciating the nods to classic rock in this track. Who says electronic music has no soul? Check them out at the Curator's Project in Brooklyn this weekend. it's FREE.

Skrillex – Bangarang (PockX Extended Edit)

Wow. I've been reluctant to give daps and hugs to Skrillex. Maybe it's his haircut. Maybe it's the fact that he was in a screamo band before "reinventing" himself as Skrillex. I guess in a way, I have resisted the whole dubstep movement. Most dubstep falls on deaf ears with me. But this track caught my attention. I'm still not ready to admit that I like dubstep, and think this is an anomaly. But it's certainly worthy of a post. This particular track should most likey melt your face off. So, listen with a friend. For safety's sake.

Straight fire. This is real music. I don't usually write about real music. I know that. You know that. But, this has so much going on, we have real horns, real drums, and some 70's soul mixed in. I love it. Can't beat it.

This just came across the desk this morning. Interesting to say the least. Formed in 2009, the IS TROPICAL line up of Gary Barber (Vocals / Guitar / keys), Simon Milner (Vocals / Guitars / Keys) and Dominic Apa (Drums) have developed a worldwide reputation for their stunning live shows. Taking to the stage in their trademark masks, and cloaked by self-made video projections, they improvise constantly changing soundscapes, effortlessly swooping from raw pop anthems to lo-fi dance songs with fantastic results.

DJ Shadow - Warning Call

The first time I heard DJ Shadow was 10 years ago in college. And it was life changing. I had never heard anything like it. This was long before the days of mashups and Girltalk. DJ Shadow was a pioneer. An innovator. DJ Shadow is more than a DJ. He is a producer, an artist, a visionary. I used to listen to his albums while taking the Amtrak up and down the East Coast from New York City to Boston. I looked forward to these three hour odysseys because they were epic. DJ Shadow has that rare ability to take a person outside of their own element. He makes the world around you come alive. As I would stare out the window watching the coastline pass me by, it was as if I were in my own music video, or even film. His music urges you to take an introspective view on things, and puts you in a pensive trance. Your imagination runs wild and time flies. It's awesome.

It's been 5 years since we heard anything new from DJ Shadow. His new album The Less You Know the Better drops September. I can't wait to hear what he's been up to.

Class Actress is out of Brooklyn with a sound that they described as stalker pop/ country club wave/ PLAYBOYPOP/ Prima Pop. Whatever you want to call it, it's definitely unique in its attempt to throwback to the days of Depeche Mode. It works.

Kelly Slater's Perfect 10 @ Quicksilver Pro NY

Obviously a little late. But we had to post this. The guy is ageless. It's really remarkable. And while he didn't win the whole thing, this was one hell of an effort.

Absinthe Films Presents - Twe12ve

Could this give The Art of Flight a run for its money? I don't think so. But, you can't really compare other films to the Art of Flight at this point. So, as far as the other class of films go, this should be pretty radical. Check it out. It's out now.

The Art of Flight - Premiered In NYC

The scene was set.The Beacon Theater was taken over last night by the snowboard world and Justin Timberlake and everybody was ready to finally see what had been one of the best/worst kept secrets in the snowboarding world: The world premiere of “The Art of Flight”. The mood was electric and everyone was amped to be there and ready to party. As Curt Morgan told the audience. “You are the first people in the world to see this. Not even the riders have seen this in its entirety.” What we saw was magic.

Travis Rice would call it epic. Others would agree. To see this film on the big screen with Dolby Digital Sound fully cranked up makes the hair on the back of your neck stick up. It was simply cinematic bliss. For a short time, the outside world ceased to exist and the only thing that mattered was The Art of Flight.

There were a lot of questions as to whether Curt Morgan, Travis Rice and his merry band of rippers could possibly raise the bar they set with “That’s It, That’s All” three years ago. Those questions have been answered. They can. The cinematography is top shelf and evokes a “Planet Earth” HD quality to it, every shot is perfect from every angle. The soundtrack is perfectly on point, and the riders, obviously nail their parts as well. From spines to chutes and backcountry kickers to untouched AK faces they rip it all. On a scale that has never been seen before. I could go on and on about this. But at the end of the day, you should just go see it. You must see it. Don’t even think about it. Just do it. If you are fortunate enough to live in a city where they are touring,go to the premiere. If not, download it today, it just released. And get stoked for winter.

See you at the Beacon Theater.

Tokyo Police Club - All My Friends (LCD cover)

Look at the ironic picture of the band on the Brooklyn waterfront! Look at the Williamsburg Bridge in the background! Look at the LCD Soundsystem cover! Still not as good as the original. But noteworthy because I miss LCD. If I'm Tokyo Police Club, I don't touch this one with a ten foot pole. James Murphy nailed it. No one else can ever really spin it. Penguin Prison - Don't Fuck With My Money

It might take a couple listens. But this track will grow on you. Penguin Prison has been up here a few times before and here he is again. He certainly has his own style. And it's a little quirky at first blush, but if you give it a chance you just might really like what you hear.

Thanks Joe for the heads up. We were snoozing on this one. Another track released today for M83's upcoming album Hurry Up We're Dreaming due out October 18th. Can't wait.

Crystal Fighters - In The Summer

TCC has been beating down my door for months trying to get me to listen to these guys and I have no excuse for myself. They're fantastic. This video is absurd. And their sound is about as bonkers as their video. Prepare to have your face melted.

Quicksilver Pro Cancels Free Music (surf still on)

Irene is just the worst. Not only did she show up and fail to deliver on the epic scale she was predicted to. She leaves the party early after a sub par performance and she decides that she will mess things up JUST ENOUGH to ruin what's left of every one else's night. In this case, I mean to say that the music portion of the Quicksilver Pro New York has been cancelled according to this press release And that is a damn shame because they had put together a pretty ridiculous line-up. Irene - NYC

This is being called "The Most Beautiful New York Hurricane Footage You'll Ever See" by buzzfeed. How much New York hurricane footage is there anyway? Regardless, still well done and worth a look. Even if the "hurricane" was a total letdown.

Kiteboarding Irene

Now that's how you get some air time!

Nero - My Eyes

If you are reading this, then you survived Irene. That bitch. Anyways, something a little different for you folks today. This track is pretty big. I mean like, it seems to be a big deal. And takes itself very seriously. And you sort of have no choice but to listen. From the start you realize that they're not really messing around. The slow build gets you sucked in and then you're hooked. Nero's been bopping around the blogosphere making waves, but this their first post here. The London duo has a new album out and they are getting all kinds of daps and hugs. Anyways, give this track a listen. It's a little different, but I like it. Not sure why yet. Although I won't be offended if you don't dig it either. Certainly not for everyone.

Future Islands - Balance

Future Islands are back. And they have a nice change of pace to their sound this time around. Last time they were up on TMD was mid winter and they were slightly meloncholy and depressing but still very good. Their whole album was a bit dreary, but great for the middle of winter. Well, now they go ahead and release a perfect little summer tune in Balance. And they've got a new album coming out October 11. I love the bass line here. AndI'm not sure if I'm hearing steel drums in there or not. But regardless, it's delish.

Standing Sideways - A Burton Film (Trailer)

It's almost that time of year. Yes, it's August and you're still going to the beach. But before you know it. It's going to be winter. And before that, comes film season. We've already talked about the much anticipated Art of Flight. But, shockingly, there are other films coming out this fall. Namely, Burton's Standing Sideways. Judging from this trailer it should be pretty schweet too.

Matt & Kim + Soulja Boy + Andrew W. K. - I'm A Goner

Wait. What?

This is actually decent. It's not the train wreck I thought it would be. Come to think of it, I kind of like it. Yep. I do. And Andrew W. K. has a surprisingly good voice though he isn't very heavily featured on the track. I was just used to hearing him on tracks like "Party Hard"  in which he essentially bangs on a piano and screams.  It's pretty surprising to hear him actually sing here. I'll also be the first to admit that I loved Andrew W. K. when he realeased I Get Wet in 2001. America needed him and he delivered. Points for the out of nowhere collaboration. Brought to you by Converse. Weird.

Madeon - Pop Culture (live mashup)

File this under bonkers. Madeon never ceases to amaze me. He's 17 years old from France. And he churns out bangers like nobody's business. And he likes Daft Punk. He's just fine in my book. Here's a mashup of 39 songs he likes. I like them too.

Alex Winston - Velvet Elvis (RAC Remix)

R.A.C. is at once again. Hardest working producer in the game right now. And almost everything they put out is just solid. No two ways about it. Here they take Alex Winston's bubbly little jam for a spin and keep it in line with minor tweaks in tinkering. It works. And one of the things I like about R.A.C. is their ability to let the original trakc shine through without overwhelming and ripping it apart. Just adding what needs to be added in a tasteful way. Letting the artist shine through. Case in point:

Com Truise - Ether Drift

Terrible name aside Com Truise is good. He's based out of Jersey too! (That's two posts in a week for the Dirty Jerz!) We'll keep it to minimum from here on out I promise. His real name is Seth Haley and he's been up here before on some of the mix tapes I've posted, but this is his first outright post. I'll give you one guess as to why this is making the cut: I'll give you a hint: it rhymes with smynthesizer. Anyways, from the jump I liked this with the hectic synth pacing around, and it never really goes anywhere from there. But the synth on its own is enough for me. Some lyrics would have been nice and maybe a little more progression, but I'll take it for what it's worth.

Com Truise - Ether Drift by Voler

And here's a bonus track just for shits and giggles! It's also quite good.

Scattered Trees - Four Days Straight

It's been a while since we posted some good old fashioned rock and roll music here on TMD; and for that I apologize. Sometimes I get caught up in a genre and things get s little skewed. But here is a curve ball for you to knock out of the park. I present you with Scattered Trees hailing from Chicago. And guess what? They're playing Brooklyn Bowl on Wednesday! Talk about serendipity. Anyways, I love this track. It's simple but memorable and catchy. A very slow start gives it a bit of an edge, and it builds to a nice finish which leaves you wanting more. Check it out:
