Chromeo - Hot Mess (Oliver Remix)

Not totally new, but pretty radical. That's just about all there is to it. I want this playing in the soundtrack to my life. At all times. Pretty sure even the DMV would be cool with this playing.

Washed Out - New Theory - (RAC Remix)

This track actually came out last year and was one of my favorite songs from last year. But I hadn't heard this re-work until today. It's even more mellowed out and dreamy than the original. RAC continues to bring it.

The track was leaked on TMD a while back. But this is the official video. Check it out.

Foster The People - Houdini

Foster The People's album just dropped. And while everyone has been swinging from "Pumped Up Kicks" there's another tune that everyone is surely talking about and will be for a while to come. Further solidifying these guys and further removing them from one hit wonder status is "Houdini". A little more upbeat than "..Kicks" it's fun and playful and should surely be on your playlist for the boat this summer. That is, of course, assuming you do go boating. You do right?

 Houdini by Foster The People

This remix may actually be even better than the original. But they are both excellent on their own.

Teen Daze - The Bluest Water I'd Ever Seen

The song sounds just as you think it would. Dreamy and... floaty?? It's kind of been a running theme over here at TMD for the past few weeks. Not sure why. I don't even know how to describe it. But it suits my mood. Maybe it'll suit yours?

Blouse - Shadow

I don't know what it is lately. But I'm really felling these more mellow tracks. Usually with the warmer weather, I go for more up beat electro type stuff. But I'm digging this tune right now. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it's been raining for the past month and a half following the longest winter of all time. OK slight exaggeration, but not by much. Anyways, you won't get the party started with this track, but I bet it'd be good for a long train ride along the coast. Whatever, check it out.

Flashlights - Hidden Behind Trees

Flashlights - Glowing Eyes by Binary Entertainment
Dark and dreary tropical bliss. Can't help but think about it. These guys are out of Denver. I was just saying how impressed I am with the music coming out of Denver lately, and this just furthers that trend. Pretty Lights, Pictureplane, now these guys. A lot of great music coming out of there to say the least.

Check out their whole  EP, it's fantastic. The strongest track on the album has to be "New Hampshire"; an absolutely stunning effort and strong single to start off with. It will stick with you for days. But the entire album holds its weight,  with "Glowing Eyes" and "Apple Trees" coming in a close second. Be on the lookout for these guys:

NightWaves - Sweet Carrie

This has Molly Ringwald written all over it. The guys voice is a little cheesy and I don't love the repetitive lyrics, but the music itself is beautiful in an 80's synth-arena-rock kind of way and takes me back to that wonderful and terrible time that was 1987. It's oddly fitting I guess. Anyways, you'll listen, and probably never tell anyone you did. But you'll like it.

Tea & Strunpets

Check out this site: Tea & Strumpets. Just a stunning collection of photography really. This one happens to be of a woman's bum. That is not necessarily representative of the rest of the collection, however, I used my judgement and deemed it fitting. Whatever.

City Center - Modern Love

City Center is the name of an extremely cheesy and large scale real estate development in Las Vegas. It's also the name of a really cool and new band from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I'm here to talk about the ladder. They're awesome. Check them out. I love their sound.

Memory Tapes - Wait In The Dark

Pretty. Whimsical. Dreamy. Summer. These are the words that come to mind as I listen to this tune. It's just nice and light and fluffy. I want to snuggle with it. It's just so... comfortable! Memory Tapes is the recording alias of Dayve Hawk. A rural New Jersey based producer. He describes his music as "pyschedelic girl group music". I think that's the best description I've ever heard. Enjoy.

Hooray For Earth - True Loves (Happy Birthday TMD)

Today is a very special day for me. Exactly one year ago today I decided enough was enough. It was time to start something. Unlike most things in my life, this is something that has grown and I've stuck by it. In fact, as time has passed I think I've put more into this than I have just about anything else in my life. Believe it or not, this was something I had thought about doing for a long time, but I never had the stones to just dive in and start it. Then one day it just hit me. And with the coaxing of a good friend, the most definitely was born. What does the most definitely mean? Well, there is a meaning behind it, and yes I know that it is grammatically incorrect. That's not the point. The point is there are no rules here, there is no right and wrong. Just awesome. That's it.

Anyways, if you told me a year ago that I would be posting with more conviction a year later, I would have laughed and asked you if you needed an adjustment. Most of the tasks I take on in life remain unfinished (as does this by the way). But I have learned a lot in the last year. I don't think I've ever posted anything very personal on this blog, nor will I, save for this post. This blog is not about me. There's no "angle". It's just about spreading the word on things that I find to be awesome. Most of the time that includes music and rad videos involving the outdoors. Sometimes, I'll find a photographer I think people should know about.

I'm very thankful that people have decided to come and visit me here and check out what I have to say. And sometimes people even come back. It's been a very humbling learning experience for me and I hope that in the coming years, that continues. I had big plans for the site when I started it a year ago, and some of those plans have been realized, while others are still in the works. I still have a lot of work ahead of me.

We are in the midst of undergoing a massive renovation to the site which will be launched hopefully in the coming month. I am very excited about it, and I think it will take the site to the next level. Other awesome plans are in the works too, but their double secret, so I can't tell you about them yet. You'll see.

But I guess at the end of the day, I just want to say thanks for checking out the site. I hope you find it as interesting as I do. Happy Birthday TMD. Longest. Post. Ever.

PS- How sick is that video??

Pictureplane - Real Is A Feeling

Pictureplane is Travis Egedy. He's from Denver. I must say Colorado's got quite the budding electro scene. Not sure what I would liken this tune to. Over the top synths and basslines make it stand on its own. Give it a listen, it's pretty addictive.

Pictureplane - Real Is A Feeling

SBTRKT - Wildfire

Slow it down with some dubstep here. SBTRKT is an anonymous producer based in London. He's gone the Daft Punk route with the whole mask deal. Which, I have to admit is just a little weird. While, he claims it is to remain anonymous and let the music speak for itself, the whole thing seems a bit kitschy at this point. Daft Punk did it, and they did it best. These African Tribal Masks don't do it for me. But at least the guy's going for it. Anyways, i like this track. It's slow to start up, but it's catchy. The vocals are sexy too. Check it out. Masks or not.

Kid Cudi - Falling Star (R3K Remix)

We've got a lot going on here. First and foremost, we lead off with the ever haunting vocals from Florence & The Machine's - Cosmic Love. Which on its own, is one of the best songs of the year. Add on top of that Mr. Rager's lyrics and you've got a nice little experience going on. Enjoy this one folks. It's good.

Eddie Vedder - Longing To Belong

Eddie Vedder has an album coming out May 30th called 'Ukulele Songs'. This is the first single offr the album. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of Pearl Jam's release of 10. There are rumors abuzz that Pearl Jam is touring this fall. Let's hope they're true.
