New Build - Mercury Lounge

What do you get when you form a band with former members of LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip? You get New Build. Who made their US debut this week at Mercury Lounge with two consecutive nights of sellout shows. Lead singer Al Doyle was as happy as could be thanking the crowd endlessly for coming out in support. He actually seemed shocked that they sold out the tiny 250 person venue. Or that anyone had heard of his little band. Anyone in the crowd would have thought otherwise. Just on paper alone, it's a band that intrigues. It seems like a no brainer. I love LCD Soundsystem, and I like Hot Chip, so, yeah. I'm in. It proved to be a good move. They rocked. The 50 minute set was brief but solid. Can't wait to hear more from them. Be sure to cop their album

Gorillaz - DoYaThing

This is the latest collaboration from Converse's series: Three artist one song. Smashing together LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, Andre 3000 and Damon Albarn of Gorrilaz. What do we think?

The Rapture - In The Grace of Your Love

Better late than never. Stream it up! Funny how things work. James Murphy was once quoted as saying that he started LCD Soundsystem to fill the void left when the Rapture went on hiatus. Now LCD Soundsystem is gone, and The Rapture is back. Talk about full circle. Twisted fate.

Tokyo Police Club - All My Friends (LCD cover)

Look at the ironic picture of the band on the Brooklyn waterfront! Look at the Williamsburg Bridge in the background! Look at the LCD Soundsystem cover! Still not as good as the original. But noteworthy because I miss LCD. If I'm Tokyo Police Club, I don't touch this one with a ten foot pole. James Murphy nailed it. No one else can ever really spin it. LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends (LEGO Video)

They might be dead. But this is a pretty sweet adaptation of the video. This also happens to be one of my favorite tracks of theirs. It's just beautiful.

Post LCD Party Mix

This has been a tough week. LCD Soundsystem has gotten me down. I realized I haven't posted ANY music this week. I think it was me subconsciously observing a moment of silence. And now, I shall post some awesome music. So, a friend of a friend got their hands on the LCD Aftterparty Mix that was played at the you guessed it! party after the MSG show. Enjoy.

LCD Soundsystem - Final Show at MSG - Entire Show

So, I'm feeling rather sad today. It is the first day of the new world we must get used to. We must carry on and move forward, but we will be doing so without lcd soundsystem playing the soundtrack to our lives. It is a brave new world and I'm really nervous for how it's going to go. I am actually a little surprised at how much this has affected me. I mean I knew I would be sad, but I didn't think I would be this sad. I'm completely devastated. I can't help but read every piece of information related to the band today. I keep forgetting that's it's over and then it hits me. BOOM. They're done. It hurts. It's getting bad.

What I will say is that if James Murphy wanted to go out on top, he certainly achieved what he set out to do. They are at the absolute pinnacle of their career. And he crafted it beautifully. Putting a massive exclamation point on a completely stellar and impeccable career with lcd soundsystem.

He says he will continue to DJ, and I'm sure we will see some sort of new project come our way with him behind it. But there will never be another lcd soundsystem and that's really really sad. Thank you for creating the beautiful and awesome music that you did.

LCD Soundsystem Played Terminal 5

LCD Soundsystem played night 4 of their 5 night farewell tour last night at Terminal 5. A fitting farewell for the band who grossly underestimated their own popularity. Thank you Mr. James Murphy and the rest of gang for putting on a simply wonderful show. They came out of the gates hot and just kept bringing it for what must have been 3 hours. As soon as the first keys for Dance Yrself Clean hit, the place went bananas and the crowd sort of moved as one for the rest of the night. There were so many moments of pure unadulterated joy, wonder, and holy sh*t moments I cannot even begin to go into detail. I just know that they put on a show, and if you weren't there, you'll never really know. And if you were there, well, you're one of the lucky ones.

Kid Cudi - All Talk (Featuring LCD Soundsystem, Chip Tha Ripper & Christian Bale)

I'm late on this, but I haven't looked at a TV or computer since Friday, turns out I didn't have wifi access on the yacht this weekend. Anyways, Kid Cudi is a funny dude. He's got a pretty dope style too. At first glance, I thought this one was a no brainer, I love Cudi, and it's apparent I've got some love for lcd soundsystem as well. So, Cudi took what I think is the best track off the new lcd soundsystem album and puts his own spin on it. Christian Bale's terminator freak out at the beginning may seem a bit cheesy at first, but it's kind of funny too. And that's kind of why I like Cudi, cause he doesn't take himself too seriously. And you shouldn't either.

LCD Soundsytem - Home (last LCD Post)

OK I swear this is the last of the LCD Soundsystem posts for a while. But I feel I would be doing you a disservice if I didn't share it with you. At this point I think it's fair to say I have picked what I deem the most worthy tracks for your listening pleasure. But you really should just buy the whole album for yourself.

Also, they are in town this weekend starting tonight playing 4 shows at Terminal 5. Tickets are still available for Sunday's show. I'll be there. Will you?

LCD Soundsystem - Dance Yrself Clean & More!

Yes, there have been a lot more lcd soundsystem posts on this blog than other band, but the fact is, they just released a ridiculously good album, so what am I supposed to do? And in what seems to be becoming a running trend on this blog, this takes the cake for longest intro. It also takes the cake for biggest payoff. James Murphy certainly likes to draw things out, with most tracks on the new album going 9 minutes or longer and you know what? That's OK. But I guess that shouldn't surprise anyone at this point. Anyways, that's fine with me. When this kicks into gear, it's a minor facemelt.

If you are impatient, and can't wait for the beat to drop, then fast forward to the 3:00 minute mark and grab a hold of everything that's not bolted to the walls.

UPDATE
And just when I think things can't get any better. I stumble across a majestic rendition of "You Wanted A Hit" - remixed by Keljet. And wow, I didn't think anyone could improve on Murph's work, but Keljet has done just that. This one will blow up.
